Motorsport is one of the most visually exhilarating industries to film — and when you bring drones into the mix, you unlock an entirely new layer of energy, motion, and perspective. That’s exactly what happened when we were brought in to capture the launch of Brian Hilton Motor Sports’ new premises in Lisarow, right here on the NSW Central Coast.
A Brief from Brian Hilton with a Twist
We were asked by Brian Hilton Motor Sports to help film a special promo video showcasing their new premises in Lisarow on the Central Coast.
Now, you might expect a typical corporate video. Maybe a ribbon-cutting, a few shots of the showroom, a classic wide-angle pan. But this wasn’t that. This project came with a creative twist.
As soon as the boss left for the night, the racing drivers broke in and had fun racing around indoors.
Cue the need for precision drone flying, fast reaction times, and camera rigs that could keep up with turbo-charged go-karts careening through a polished showroom floor at night.
Capturing Speed with Cinematic Style
We had to capture some incredible footage of these fast vehicles racing right around us.
When you’re working on motorsport drone filming, speed is everything — both in terms of what’s in front of the lens and what’s behind it. For this project, we used FPV (first-person view) drones to chase the action in real-time and give the viewer a thrilling, immersive perspective.
Why FPV Works for Motorsport
FPV drones are agile, compact, and capable of flying at very high speeds — perfect for weaving through narrow indoor spaces, hugging corners, or launching down straightaways with barely a millisecond to spare.
The footage feels alive. Rather than standing back and observing, you feel like you’re in the driver’s seat — diving, swerving, and surging forward with the racers.
We used a combination of FPV drones, traditional aerials, and ground cameras to capture every angle of the action. Smooth cinematic passes, sudden whip-pans, and slow-motion hero shots — all edited into a high-energy, attention-grabbing promo.
A Night to Remember
The atmosphere on set was electric. Smoke machines, low lighting, engine noise, and the smell of rubber on concrete. It felt more like filming a music video than a promotional clip — and that’s exactly the energy we wanted to channel.
