Gosford Alive – GBID: A Cinematic Gosford Drone Video Capturing the Central Coast Lifestyle

We really enjoyed capturing the aerial video footage for this recent project for Gosford Business Improvement District (GBID) — a dynamic and visually engaging campaign celebrating the best of Gosford in a single day.

From sunrise over the station to sunset over the water and everything in between, this Gosford drone video truly captures the evolution of the area — and why it’s such an exciting place to live, work and visit.

The Brief: A Day in the Life of Gosford

Our challenge was to visually tell the story of a full day in Gosford, showcasing not only the natural beauty of the region, but also the vibrant local life, arts, sports, and community energy that the Central Coast has become known for.

The goal? To demonstrate that Gosford is no longer just a regional hub — it’s a destination. A place where professionals, creatives, families and entrepreneurs can all thrive.

The concept developed by GBID was simple but powerful: show what it’s like to wake up, live, work, and play in Gosford. From a commuter’s early start to sunset leisure and nightlife, the idea was to make viewers feel part of a living, breathing community.

The Shoot: Sunrise to Fireworks (Literally)

We started the day at 6:16am, capturing the train arriving at Gosford station — an iconic daily moment for hundreds of locals commuting to and from Sydney.

From there, we followed a visual thread through the day that included:

  • Sailing across the calm blue waters of Brisbane Water
  • Horse racing at the Gosford Race Club
  • Rowing teams powering through early morning training
  • Locals enjoying Tai Chi in the park
  • A bustling scene of coffee culture and brunch spots
  • Live theatre and cultural venues
  • Art, music, street performers and more
  • Retail shopping at the Imperial Centre
  • Leisure and family time around the waterfront
  • And finally — the night ends with breathtaking fireworks illuminating the sky above the town

Our aerial footage stitched all of this together to showcase Gosford not as a sleepy coastal town, but as a thriving, forward-thinking city on the rise.

What This Gosford Drone Video Aimed to Show

Featuring a day in Gosford, this video does a great job in capturing everything that makes Gosford (and the Central Coast) a great place to live and work!

It’s easy to forget how much this region has to offer until you see it from above. The combination of coastal beauty, sporting culture, local business, and a rejuvenated CBD is genuinely compelling.

From the 6:16am train, we take in some sailing, horse racing and rowing before a spot of Tai Chi in the park.

This diverse, dynamic visual story reflects how much Gosford has changed — and how much potential lies ahead.

Drone Cinematography at Its Best

Aerial video was absolutely key to bringing this project to life.

From wide establishing shots that capture Gosford’s position between bush, water and bay, to tight, dramatic flyovers of rowers and cyclists in motion, drone cinematography gave this video the movement, scope and energy it needed.

In this Gosford Drone Video, SkyMedia’s drones captured:

  • Sunrise flares over train tracks
  • Boats gently drifting through shimmering water
  • Tracking shots of runners and rowers
  • Sweeping views of parks, markets, and main streets
  • Birds-eye views of the community gathering
  • Fireworks exploding over dark water

The footage was graded and edited into a final cinematic video with music and pacing that reflects the changing mood of the day.

We used a combination of:

  • Inspire 3 drone for ultra-smooth 8K aerials
  • FPV drones for dynamic movement around tight locations
  • Ground cameras for people-focused scenes to blend with aerials

A Snapshot of Gosford’s Revitalisation

Showcasing the stunning location, sports, theatre, arts, culture and leisure, this Gosford drone video demonstrates just how much Gosford has changed and has to offer. From shopping at the Imperial Centre, enjoying a coffee, the beautiful water views and the breathtaking fireworks – who wouldn’t want to live here?

The revitalisation of Gosford over the past decade has been dramatic — and it’s not slowing down. From infrastructure upgrades to increased investment in the arts, wellness, dining, and residential sectors, the city is evolving fast.

This video was a chance to promote that change, and it’s been used across multiple platforms — including business forums, social media, government briefings, and community groups — to showcase the spirit of the Central Coast.

Community Connection Through Video

How many of these activities have you done in Gosford?

That’s the beauty of a video like this. It doesn’t just attract newcomers — it reminds locals of what makes their city special. Whether it’s the rowing club at sunrise or the New Year’s Eve fireworks, there’s something about seeing your own community captured cinematically that creates a real sense of pride and belonging.

For business groups like GBID, this kind of Gosford drone video isn’t just content. It’s placemaking.

Behind the Scenes: Our Favourite Moments

We had great fun on this project. Every shoot day came with its own set of challenges and surprises — from racing against the sun to dodging the seagulls who were a little too curious about the drone.

Some standout moments for the crew included:

  • Coordinating with the Gosford rowing team at dawn for precision tracking shots
  • Capturing clean audio and vision in bustling public areas
  • Timing fireworks and drone height limits to stay CASA-compliant
  • Watching passers-by stop and smile when they saw what we were filming
